La noche del 14 de abril de 1912, hace 102 años, se registró el hundimiento del transatlántico británico Titanic, en el océano Atlántico frente a las costas de la Isla de Terranova (Canadá).
El barco con 2.223 pasajeros se chocó contra un iceberg en el lado de estribor y se hundió en menos de tres horas. En la tragedia, fallecieron 1.512 personas por ahogamiento o hipotermia.
Este naufragio es una de las mayores catástrofes marítimas.
